Sushi
Sushi is a traditional Japanese dish that typically consists of vinegared rice combined with various ingredients such as seafood, vegetables, and occasionally tropical fruits. The ingredients are often rolled together with seaweed (nori) or placed on top of small beds of rice. There are different types of sushi, including:
Nigiri: Hand-pressed sushi, featuring a small mound of rice topped with a slice of raw or cooked fish, seafood, or sometimes a sweet omelet (tamago).
Sashimi: Slices of fresh, raw fish or seafood served without rice.
Maki: Sushi rolls made by wrapping rice, fish, and vegetables in seaweed. Maki rolls are often sliced into bite-sized pieces.
Temaki: Hand-rolled sushi, resembling a cone shape with rice, fish, and vegetables. Sushi is often served with pickled ginger, wasabi (Japanese horseradish), and soy sauce for dipping. It is known for its artful presentation, diverse flavors, and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Sushi has gained popularity worldwide and has inspired various regional adaptations and creative combinations.
